Puppy Whelping box

My day old red standard irish doodle puppies in the new whelping box.
Outfitted with 48 x 60 inch SincoPet Reusable Pee Pad.
The blue pad is an old swimming pool liner.

Finished puppy whelping box with sliding door. Adding one section of door keeps puppies inside as they get bigger. Sometimes I have to remove rail in front of door section because puppies can stand on and crawl over and out.

I used red oak plywood cut in half, 4 x 8 foot sheets, two of them, giving a 2 foot height. I made lenght 61 inches and width 50 inches. This allows for a half inch space inside with the 48 X 60 inch SincoPet Reusable Pee Pad. Was stained twice with Helsman semi gloss oil based urethane, Corner boards are 4x4 inch x 8 footer, cut in 2 foot sections.
Rails are 1 inch diameter schedule 80, liked the color , use schedule 40 if want white.
Used 1 1/4 inch stainless screws, predrill first.
Used 1 inch hangers, with 3/8 threaded rods. Its best to buy 5 one foot lenghts and cut from both ends, discard middle section. Thread in from back plate with uncut end of threaded rod. I didnt have a rethreader, so was easiest way for me. Saves alot of time. You need 10 total.
Bottom of floor to lower plate was about 3 inches. Makes atleast a 4 inch gap.
